New Computer?New Car?Rent?Tuition?

Tue Aug 25, 2009, 9:59 AM
So I have been battling with myself for a while now. I know that I am in need of a new computer...eventually...my problem I think lies more with my desire for a new computer. Allow me to illustrate...I am currenlty the owner of a Dell Inspiron 1100 with a pentium 4 processor that originally came with 1/2GB of RAM. So in plain terms it was new and fairly cutting edge in Dec 2003. The RAM I recently had to replaced (now 1.5 GB) because it crashed, I have had to replace the hard drive and manually wipe out the virtumonde virus. Wipe my computer and re install XP and everything when I tried to launch Photoshop Elements and it told me there was not enough RAM to open a 1.77MB jpg file...all of this has been going on since March of 09. Can you imagine my frustration? The only thing holding me back is my current financial situation. I am returning to school soon, and I don't want to spend the money and then not have enough to pay my rent and tuition, and oh yea a new car because mine hasn't a lot of time left on this earth...like the computer...
::Sigh:: Should I just give in and make it my 25th birthday present to myself(which is rapidly approaching)? If so i need advise on a good computer that wont break the bank, but can handle Photoshop and Corel and not crash.
